Couldn’t agree more. I took a grad course on Viet Nam lit 20 years ago which fundamentally changed my thoughts about war and the invisible trauma it inevitably causes.

May I also suggest taking a look at The Evil Hours: A Biography of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder by David J. Morris. It’s a beautiful integration of the personal/historical/clinical intersectionality regarding war and PTSD. Though he doesn’t go into detail due to its complexity, he says the trauma of rape is analogous for women.
