I am Ashani. Cooking has been my passion since I was 16(when I cooked along with my mom;basically various kinds of fried rices to take as lunch to school). I am a Sri Lankan soul currently living in Pittsburgh,PA,USA with my little family.

My mom helped me understand cooking as way of expressing love, care and gratitude to our loved ones and not as a chore you have to deal with everyday. I saw how she single-handled everything from serving to caring and above all enjoyment of that load of work.Fascinating fact is my father too helped my mom to understand cooking when they were married… My mom makes the world’s most perfect green bean stir fry. Still I think, I cannot sometimes decode its success when I make it.But I hope that I’ll do one day!

But as times passes apart from helping mom in our dusty, traditonalized kitchen(where you have a cooker which gives fire from the wood and cooks curries in it named as “dhara lipa”)….I involved more in cooking and looked for recipes all over the internet when I met my boyfriend(now my husband).Because he was relocated far away from his home with work-he ate form all the roadside food which he was tired of;and of course bad for health too. So I cook various meals(Lumprais to chicken sides to roll cakes to cookies….. the list goes on) and take it his office.

So it goes….

Now,I see my self as a self taught-home cook/a wifey/mom for two toddlers.

This is a result of my husband’s long term request of ” write a blog…”. He planted this idea in my head, pushed me continuously and believed there’s more time within me to dedicate apart from being who I am,among our household chorus. He is my greatest mentor ! And my toddlers! They constantly nag for cupcakes of every color they know 🙂 !

If its not my husband’s call……I would have been this little wisdom with my handful of friends,as I learned by hands-on experience during this so far little course of life.

Most of the recipes featured here are a new recipes developed under the theme of “fusion cuisine” .

And also I cannot forget my roots ! So there is a little collection of traditional Sri Lankan recipes too. Because there is a hardship of finding locally

I love to try the world too! Its literally pursuit culinary of happiness in Various cuisines -various dishes are a trip over a plate around the world and I find easy ways to make them securing the original flavor.

And we are in a quest of searching palatable foodie corners in wherever we go. So “foodie outings” dedicates to that! You may find your next beloved eatery!

So I hope you enjoy this blog and the recipes published. Contact me for any comment, suggestion and I” definitely answer them!

Thanks and regards-Ashani.
