Just to point out that the “State House Zoo” is a bit of a misnomer. Although it is (not so) close to State House grounds, it’s a public (pay-to-access) zoo and the only one available for miles so it does serve some function.

It’s nice for our children to see non-human animals but I guess we can look to other revenue sources (like corporate partnerships) for funding and be more transparent about the management.
