So simple. Maybe that’s why we mostly overlook it.
It’s so simple….
And I guess that’s why it’s taken me so many years to finally realize it.
WHAT YOU DO TODAY IS ALL THAT MATTERS.
Having a clear idea of what you want for yourself, plans for the future, and all that are good first steps; without the followthrough howevever, you may end up with a lot of great first steps but that’s all they would ever be.
What you do on a daily basis, what you prioritize TODAY to get to that future; that’s all that matters.
Whether you want to grow your business,
or be more effective at work,
or you want to have a culture of saving money,
or you want to get physically fit,
or you want to eat healthy,
or have a better relationship with God,
or communicate better with family and friends,
or be a better person,
or sell more of your product,
whatever it is,
START TODAY, learn the lessons, and give it a whole-hearted go again tomorrow.
Little by little, with consistency, you are more likely to get closer to your goal. You may not even be fantastic; just be consistent. Maybe it’s because you get better with practice, maybe the universe rewards those that persevere, I don’t know.
Making the best of today is even more important for those of us that live in special environments where tomorrow is very likely coming with fresh and urgent challenges like:
Bad roads damaging your car without prior notice,
Police setting you up and you spending all day with them because you won’t pay a bribe,
The power outage running into an unprecedented 4 days and all of a sudden, fuelling the generator moving itself into priority 1 position because you can’t afford to lose the food in the freezer,
That important prospect wanting a detailed proposal and wanting it urgently (as usual),
A medical emergency (God forbid!),
And then those social media trends that you feel the need to keep up to date with or air your views on,
The list could be endless.
Any entrepreneur without the luxury of paid time needs to identify what activities are most important to his/her success and just keep at them every day.
If an activity has no immediate or future bearing on your life targets, it would be self-destructive to spend the best part of today on it.
For now, all you get is 24 hours a day.
