In Conversation with Danny Lange: Uber Implements Machine Learning

Not a mobile app, but Uber is much more than that. It doesn’t restrict itself to being a mere transportation service provider; instead it strives to become an excellent technology service provider, similar to a logistics company.
Danny Lange, the head of Machine Learning at Uber thinks that AI armed with Machine Learning will help solving any business discrepancies, whether complicated or simple.
Here is what Lange replied, when asked a few questions about Machine Learning:
What makes Uber’s approach towards Machine Learning different?
Machine Learning is the talisman of our system. But, now we are just taking it to the next level, where it will be more powerful, more effective. We are looking forward to put to use the effective tools of machine learning in all the sectors of the company, especially those areas which were out of bounds previously.
How UberEats implements machine learning in its process?
We have huge piles of data stored in our system, like time taken to make a bowl of noodles, the prevailing traffic conditions in a particular city and many others. Based on these data, we can now develop powerful machine learning models, which will help in gaining the maximum results.
