If your point is that wrestling has no value to you, how do you use that to support the point that “sports are a sad and dangerous waste of time”? The rest of the piece is aimed directly at sports fans — it is not a personal account of your own feelings about sports.

Celebrating the victories of others you care about is just empathy — whether they’re sports teams or their best friends. If you asked a sports fan if they personally just won the Super Bowl, none of them will say that their ring is in the mail. Relating to others in such a deep way is a special type of connection, and I do hope my children will understand what that connection feels like.

I also hope they’ll possess the insight and integrity to analyze arguments and stand up for what they believe in, and against ideas that are essentially just hating on something you don’t understand.
