We are going to go ahead and get kicked off for today. This is our crew, as Fox and Dreamer are both out on vacation this week. We will be starting this week with me!

One thing I want to mention before we start:
- Shout out to YourAverageLord for the large bug report he filled out. You can file bug reports here:
defikingdoms.com/bugreport.html or on this Google form. We greatly appreciate it when these reports come in.

With that, we can start our updates with Beetle Dude!

Beetle Dude

Thanks Bolon!
One thing I’m most excited about is the progress we’re making on the Combat Testing Grounds. SecondBestDad and I are working hard on getting the animations done in the sandbox. Happy to share some things there for you all, a few teasers!

Beetle Dude

A big part of what we’re looking at are weapon based animations. We’ll be centering our animations around weapon-type, at least for basic abilities.

I might have mentioned this last time, but we just recently brought on a new pixel artist! He has quite a bunch of shipped indie games under his belt. He’s very talented in the visual FX arena, can’t wait to have him hacking away at this!

Other artists are also laboring away at yellow pet eggs, so we can get that to you all as soon as possible.

Another feature coming very soon is Hero Gene Re-Roll, in addition to various small updates to support those bigger updates.

That’s all I got, so back to you Bolon!

Bolon Soron

Lets go over to Magnus now!

Magnus Ironroot

Hey guys! I was on vacation last week, happy to be back and building again this week. I was only out for a little bit, but I feel like I’ve been gone for a month with how fast things change in this industry.

First off, as you all know, there was some chain instability on two occassions last week, due to some issue following some refactoring of code on the Avalanche Chain.

A high level overview is that during the refactoring of the validator software that runs on each of the machines, it basically doesn’t update on the X-Chain state as transactions come through. There was a time period where the X-Chain got out of sync due to that refactor. This caused the AvaLabs RPCs to show as unhealthy. Those nodes ended up being removed from the Load Balancer, going out of service and leading to RPC issues.

Our subnet was still running, which is why POKT was still working. Our Subnet was making blocks, but the bulk of the transactions weren’t getting submitted. There was a brief time during the rolling restarts to bring everything back in sync by applying the latest updates from AvaLabs that our chain may have reported as down. We got those quickly back up — I won’t bore you with the full technical details. But if you want the full post mortem link to the GitHub commits from AvaLabs, you can check out this link here: X-Chain Post Mortem.

Shout out to Pine Cone, he’s been working on some awesome monitoring tools that allows us to respond very quickly to a situation like this. If any of the Chains have been notified as failing, we can quickly and easily hop on to address it.

Lastly, we’ll be making some changes to enable flag storage bridging. Things like past re-rolls and Perilous Journeys badges will all be in sync across DFKChain and Klaytn. This will also fix some of the issue related to Dark Summoning as well.

In order to make sure that there are no data related hiccups during the bridging process, we will be pausing several features of the game, like summoning, for a few hours. This is to make sure data is being successfully transmitted across chains. More updates to come on that as we nail down the release time.

Thanks Magnus! SunBear —

SunBear

Thanks Bolon!
Some exciting partnerships that are about to be announced… keep an ear out for those in the next week or two.

Wanted to drop a quick note about BlockPit. I know some of you may be waiting for an update that’s going to improve some of the autolinking. Just to say, they’ve been amazing — every little bit of feedback we give them they work on immediately. They’re aiming for the best experience for the DFK community. They’re working on this now and we can hopefully see an update on this later on.

Bolon Soron

Seconding that shout out to BlockPit, they have been fantastic as partners. If you notice anything that doesn’t look right, as you use BlockPit, use their Discord or contact us to point it out.

One last thing I forgot to mention: Right after this AMA, at 3 PM ET, Magnus and Hubert will be participating in a Twitter space with WonderVerse!

Now to Questions!

Questions & Answers

[ Tracking Jewel Supply ] [ DFK’s Economic Health ]
[ Summoning CD Increase ] [ Season #2 Airdrops ]
[ DFK Treasury ] [ Crafting ] [ Hero Rarity & PvP ]
[ Pet Utilility ]

Question #1

In regards to tracking Jewel supply — there are websites that aren’t tracking it correctly, how can we track it accurately?

Answer

Bolon Soron

There are still some websites reporting incorrectly, we are in contact with them. The most up-to-date and accurate is CoinMarketCap. One note on this, it is up-to-date and correct, but the way they calculate circulating might throw some people off. Just to clarify that, if you look at CMC, their circulating supply, does not include staked Jewel (receipt tokens) such as c/sJewel. They don’t include Burn, vesting, or dev controlled wallets (like the Quest fund and Treasury).

If you want to account for the full 125mil Jewel, it’s this formula:
Circulating Supply on CMC + c/sJewel + vesting + burn + dev wallets. It does all calculate out to 125 million, but you can see that on CMC.

Question #2

Please comment on your view of the current health of DFK’s economy and whether you anticipate if its current state poses challenges to the growth of the player base moving forward — referring to the existing stock of items, pets, heroes, etc.

Answer

Hubert Cumberdale

With the economy overall — obviously we’re in a bear market and things have dropped quite a bit. No one likes to be in a bear market and we are hopeful that things will improve in time.

As far as creating challenges for new players, I think right now is the easiest time for people to join in. When it comes to new content coming out we will be seeing some of the tokens that don’t get used have a use-case. Especially with PvP coming and potions.

I do expect that as we release new features we will see adjustments. There’s a lot that comes into acquiring new players. Overall, right now, I think for new players this is a good time. There isn’t much of a barrier to entry.

SunBear

I’ll add some comments there as well. I think about the last year and a half, that quick success, the vision that we have, how unique we are, and ape in because of that vision. If you could tell someone then how low of a barrier of entry we have now, they would probably be very excited to see that or wait for it themselves.
From a biz dev perspective, as a team, we are focused on growth. We want to get the game to people so they can see what it is. The reality is, is that we have built a tremendous foundation for growth. Something about this team that keeps me here is that we’re never going to build a product that is subpar. We’re going to take the time to do it right.
In fact, I meet with a lot of different folks that want to meet and work with us, but we often times say “no”. Because the direction those partners want to take with us are not in line with our vision or the direction we want to go with this project.

That’s one of the things I appreciate about this team. From a biz dev perspective, we’re focused on the things that will make us grow. We will grow as we build on this listing. CEX listing, on and off boarding (with several opportunities coming), various Game Launchers (new exposure to players, incentives, etc), and partnering with groups all over the world, like PlayOne Games (which includes things like translating the game into Korean, for example).

I will add as well, we take the time to do it right. I know the feedback from the community is that we don’t deliver as quickly as you’d like … but you’ll never see a product come out that isn’t quality and isn’t exactly what we want. We take the time to check the quality boxes before we send it, including ensuring contracts are safe. Decisions aren’t made by one person, they go through committee discussions and votes. We bring transparency to the group and the community. We have successful tokenomics to pave the way for the future — burn mechanics, deflationary mechanics, utility, continued added utility, there’s just so much set up for success.

The state is that we are on the verge and all it’s going to take is a some positive movement. I’m really excited and I feel like there’s a lot happening here.

Question #3

What are your thoughts on increasing the hero summoning cooldown per hero or per wallet? As well as thoughts on mats?

Answer

Hubert Cumberdale

First off I’ll say, doing a per wallet reduction is probably not something we will entertain. Things like that are easy to defeat with multi-walleting. However, I think changing the CD for summoning COULD be done. I’ve thought about it before, but it would require a Governance Vote. I would be curious to see the amount of interest in such a move… it would decrease the rate of heroes entering the market, without effecting Dark Summoning (a net negative on the hero population).

I’d be curious to hear if the community would like to see a vote of that. I guess I would be in support of it. Things we decided at the beginning of the project worked well then, but we should be open to fundamental changes.

As far as materials go, I do think that right now we do have a lot of content coming soon that is going to add a lot of utility to those materials. I’m not really of a mind to reduce anything. With Level 10 Profession quests and Pets coming soon, there will be an increase in materials. With the idea of PvP coming out and potions, that’ll be a counterforce to that. I want to wait till that comes around before we consider fundamental changes around that.

Pet feeding will also put pressure on that supply as well. We’ll likely see some tokens getting burned more than others. The way it’s setup is that you can burn almost any of the tokens to go in as food ingredients — you’ll see how that works when it comes.

Bolon Soron

I will add that we are always open to the feedback and the thoughts. Even changing things we consider fundamental, but we want to make sure they’re well planned and well thought out. We want to do them with the community’s blessing, so it would be through Governance. Please keep sharing that feedback with us.

Question #4

When will we be doing airdrops for the Season 2 raffle?

Answer

Bolon Soron

Those are done. If you haven’t seen your prize yet, please contact us.

Question #5

Where are we standing with our Treasury at the moment?

Answer

Bolon Soron

I will make a general comment: We’re stable.
Our Treasury is, and always will be, largely in our own token. That’s how the project is set up. It holds primarily our own token, but it is diversified in Blue Chips as well as stables.

We will circle back to the question next week when we have Dreamer here.

Question #6

Questions about the future crafting professions.
Each Hero is going to get a random two crafting genes… are they going to act like the current gathering professions, where we send heroes out to do the quest, or will this be a new way of interacting with that?

If that system is different, depending on the item you want to craft, would that then determine the length of time or requirements otherwise?

Will we need certain items for different crafting recipes?

Will stamina be used and will the crafting genes be able to level up like current gathering quests?

Answer

Hubert Cumberdale

It will be a new way. We are planning a kind of “set it and forget it” approach to allow your crafters to be used by others. However, actually crafting for yourself will be active for you, as the player.

We’re not far along enough to say how long it will take… at the moment we are more inclined to say it is not a time based event, but more dependent on materials and a crafter that’s capable of crafting it.

You will require specific items for recipes coming from multiple sources, not just profession quests.

We are planning on using stamina and the plan is also to have those crafting skills level as well.

Question #7

Will hero rarity scale any of the PvP abilities outside of stats?

Answer

Hubert Cumberdale

Outside of stats, no. The benefits of having rarer heroes is to have more state growth, which is reflected in your ability to do and receive damage, etc.

Question #8

With the pet utility release, will we be rolling only XP bonus scaler and profession abilities, or will crafting and combat abilities be dertermined as well?

Answer

Hubert Cumberdale

The combat and crafting bonuses will stay as they are. We are not ready for those to be defined yet. Those will be rerolled in the future. Right now it’s just gathering and profession bonuses.

I will note that the exp gained from having a fed pet is not something that needs to be rolled. It’s set by the rarity of the pet.
I don’t think this is changing, so I will tell you here, it’s 4% increase gain per rarity level. Starting at 4% and ending at 20% if you have a mythic pet equipped with the exp gain bonus.
