Summer Break Reflection by Juan Diego Albin

There were various events this summer that stands it out and in my opinion also helped me become a better person and helped me become a me become a more mature responsible person. But out of all the events, I have to say that the planning of a Disney World vacation by myself for the second time is the one that stands it out the most. But it is most definitely the first time that I have planned a trip of one month by myself to Disney World. To plan this trip I had to do many different things to make sure that both I, and my family get the best experience possible from this trip. The first thing that I did was research many hotels to see which one provided the best experiences, restaurants and amenities for my family. After doing all of that research I decided to choose The Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Another thing that I needed to do to make sure that me and my family got the best out of this experience was to research more in depth about the parks, at what time they opened at what time they closed, what day they had extra magic hours, what rides were opening this year, what things were going to be closed because of the expansions, etc. After doing all of that I needed to decide what day we were going to do what, if it was shopping, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, etc. Once I decided all of that I needed to make all the dining reservations, especially the ones that get booked up quickly, like Be Our Guest and Dining with an Imagineer. Lastly after all, of this, there is still one more step that I need to do I still need to wait until there are 60 days before the trip so I can make all the FastPass plus reservations. How has this taught me responsibility? This has taught me responsibility in various ways. First it has taught me to be more responsible with my time managing because if you want to get all the reservations on the restaurants that you want to, you always need to enter the page 180 days in advance really early in the morning so you can get them. Another way that this occasion has taught me responsibility is taking responsibility for my actions because if someone in my family doesn’t like what I planned I need to say that I was the one that chose it I can’t blame anyone else. Another ability that this occasion has taught me is ‘teamwork’ because at the same time that I planned this by myself I needed to listen to all my family’s opinions even if I didn’t like it I needed to include it in our itinerary. Another ability that this has taught me is independence because particularly with this my parents don’t know much about how to use the page how to make reservations, how to book the hotel, how to set up reminders etc. Another thing that this has taught me is to pay more attention for everything I do because one small mistake can mess up the whole vacation. For example las year when I was planning the vacation I made the huge mistake of accidentally reserving the car rental a month before the actual date this caused a lot of problems since it was peak season almost everything was booked, but luckily we got one, but it has taught me that every time I need to pay attention to what I did. Another thing and probably the biggest thing that this has taught me is that if you really want something you need to work by yourself for it, because planning a Disney World vacation is no easy task, so if you really want you to need to be the one that does everything possible to have it. Finally this the activity that I think that has taught me the most responsibility and I definitely think that I an activity that I really love and I’m going to keep doing it as long as possible.
