Young People Big Voices: an arena where the voices of young people will be heard
Young People Big Voices (YPBV) is an event taking place on the 1st of March, as part of the week-long festival, Development Goals Forum 2020//Globalisation. YPBV will host young people between the ages of 16 and 30 who will speak their minds on issues related to the SustainableDevelopment Goals (SDGs). It will be a platform for young people to share their own ideas, experiences and knowledge on topics that will impact their future.
YPBV is a perfect opportunity for young changemakers to develop their skills and expand their knowledge YPBV speakers will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on issues that they are passionate about, and their speeches will be heard by various actors from both the public and private sector. They will get the chance to inspire people through their own experiences, personal stories and knowledge. Moreover, speakers will contribute to raise awareness about the SDGs and how to implement them, especially among fellow youth. Participating in this event will be a good opportunity for speakers to increase their own knowledge of the SDGs and other human rights issues. By interacting with fellow speakers, they will discover new perspectives about pressing issues in the world. The Development Goals Forum (DGF) will support the speakers throughout the whole process and provide them with the knowledge necessary to write informed speeches that they will present on the day of the event.
The speakers will receive training in public speaking to prepare for the actual event. Starting in January, the speakers will receive individual coaching sessions for two months so that they will feel confident on the stage in March. During these sessions, the participants will receive feedback on their speeches, as well as advice on how to use their voices and be more confident when speaking in front of larger crowds. It also includes guidance on how to transform an idea into a text. The speakers will also have an entire team to ask for advice on how to create a more interactive and interesting experience on stage.
Young People Big Voices will prepare youth for the future and give them a chance to make a difference.
Speakers will have a unique chance to improve their networking skills. Not only will they meet like-minded young people, they will also be able to meet and interact with politicians and representatives from the private sector. YPBV participation will provide opportunities for the future by building bridges between the speakers and the others who are interested in the same field. Participants will be able to present their own ideas others and improve their networking skills overall.
