I am an Uber survivor.

Anyone who doubts the authenticity of this story is not a woman who has worked in Silicon Valley. I believe every word and am sadly not surprised. I’ve seen Senior Level “stars” get away with behavior that goes 100% against the company ethics guidelines. I’ve been told by HR that, “They are a senior leader so your job is to bend to them, not the other way around” when reporting on inappropriate behavior. I looked up bully in the workplace due to one senior leader and learned that often bullies align themselves very tightly with top leaders so that their bad behavior is excused. This sounds like Mike #2. Bullies are also often very sensitive to any criticism and their egos are easily damaged. I’m so glad you left that toxic environment, and I hope that you take your learning to the next amazing job you land!
