Socialism is not about The State, any more than capitalism is about greed. Indeed, socialist thought, in its original form, is a direct consequence of anarchism.

The problem is that a lot of people confuse socialism, as a whole, with very narrow forms of socialism, generally promoted by Marx and his followers. But again, that’s no more socialism than greed is capitalism.
