When are you choosing to start “history?” Maybe our economy is barely crawling along because about 40% of it is government spending, and probably close to 60% is under fairly direct control of the government.
Top ten richest people in the world have a sum total of paper wealth — as opposed to actual wealth, which is far lower, as I mentioned in my other comment — of $785.5B, which seems like a lot. But Federal spending for 2019 is $4.45T and total US government spending of $7.54T
The federal government would go through the entire paper worth of the top ten richest people in the world in 64.5 days. It would last the US government, as a whole, only 38 days. Our problem isn’t “the rich.” Our problem is government.
