Just watched this movie tonight after having read this review a few days ago. I don’t think the “party girl doesn’t have to change” element was the most interesting part. I was fascinated that the movie features an interracial wedding, and yet, not once did the director give in to the easy temptation to include racial tension humor (or even a cheap racial joke). This movie would have been the same had two white characters gotten married or if two black characters had gotten married. I won’t say racism is cured, but it is refreshing to see a director make a movie with an interracial marriage as a central element to the plot, and at the same time make it seem like it no big deal whatsoever. That’s a big step forward, perhaps bigger than the party girls who don’t need to change.
