Business cards are a great tool to introduce yourself to your prospective clients. Perhaps, you may already have bundles of business cards sitting in your desk when you first ordered them from your favorite printing company in Singapore. But they are not as effective as you thought they would be. Maybe it is time to upgrade to thicker, more colorful, and elegant looking cards — commonly known as luxury business cards. Yes, they are a little more expensive than standard business cards. But, as with everything in life, quality comes at a cost. High quality, luxury cards help improve your first impression, setting the ground for closing a deal, winning a pitch, or building long-term relationships with clients. If you are not sure how to choose the right luxury card, here are some useful tips.
Choose the GSM right
GSM stands for grams per square meter. When you contact a printing company for brochure printing, posters or even business card printing, they would ask you about your choice of paper. You need to specify your quality requirements in terms of GSM. The higher the GSM, the better is the quality. In other words, papers with a higher GSM are heavier, thicker, and better for printing. Your options are wide ranging — starting from 250gsm to 300gsm, 400gsm, 500gsm, and even 1100gsm. Standard cards come with around 300gsm papers, while luxury cards would be printed on 500–600gsm papers and super luxury cards on around 1100gsm papers. The thickness, quality, and weight of the papers would vary accordingly. You need to take your pick depending on your individual requirements and preferences. It is also important to note that different GSM papers are called in different names. For instance, 540gsm papers are referred to as double thick silk, while 810gsm papers are termed triple thick, and 1080gsm are known as quadruple thick papers. Not forgetting, knowing the differences between digital printing and offset printing can also help you in choosing the perfect printing method for the right gsm paper.
Look for customizable colors
Colors can make or break the look and feel of your business card. One good idea would be to opt for luxury cards with visible colored edges. Depending on the printing company, you can get up to 10 or 12 customizable color options to choose from. You can use a combination of different colors, but make sure the colors you are choosing are in sync with your brand image. If you have defined colors for your brand identity, it is better to stick to those colors only.
Choose the size right
Business cards come in a wide variety of sizes, making it difficult for you to choose the right size. However, if you have a clear idea about your purpose behind printing business cards, choosing the right size should not be a problem. Typically, luxury business cards come in three different sizes — 90mm x 50mm, 85mm x 55mm, and 90mm x 55mm. All you need is to think how you are going to hand out the cards and choose the size accordingly. For instance, you are planning to print business cards for the next corporate event, it would probably be a good idea to opt for a smaller size.
