What I learned from my racist run-in (illustrated)
Anisa Mercedes Rawhani

As a light skinned Iranian living in Canada, I dont get to experience racism often thank god. But when we had just moved to Canada about 17 years ago, at the age of 13 I experienced racism at school on a daily basis both from the students and some of the teachers. It had gotten to the point that it made me not want to go to school and I was crying almost every day. But like I said that was many years ago and as an adult I havent encountered any racism so I honestly dont know how I would feel or react if what happened to you was to happen to me right now. Thank you for sharing your experience with us here, and please know that you are NOT alone.
