What is DOTA2?

DOTA (Defense of the Ancients) is a free-to-play Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game. The initial version of this game was actually a Map Mod of the game Warcraft III. Due to the huge popularity of this Mod gameplay, Valve hired the Mod maker in 2009 to develop DOTA 2 and it was officially released as a game in 2013.

The basic gameplay of DOTA 2 is 5v5 real-time battle. Each player chooses a “Hero” to play. Opponents always try to pick the Counter-hero, but which hero is counter of which one, only can be acknowledged by playing thousands of hours. There are two sides in map, Radiant side and the Dire side, these are actually for the two teams. Each side has an “Ancient” and each team try to protect their own Ancient and destroy the opponents one. It is long story short of DOTA 2 gameplay.

Why is it so special?

This is not just a game, this is beyond game. Each “Hero” has their own abilities (known as spells). Some abilities are to be casted, some are to be pointed, some are passive. And some “Hero” can build their own abilities like “Invoker” and some Heroes can steal others like “Rubick” and “Morphling”. All these Heroes need to build Items in-game to battle and these items varies from match to match depending on the opponent and match time. All this complexity of this game has made this game to be a source of knowledge. This knowledge only can be earned by playing thousands of hours. That is why in the promo of DOTA 2, it was subtitled “What does a Hero truly need? It is you to decide…”

Why is it the only Game?

Unlike the other multiplayer games of this universe today, this game does not require any high level profiled ID to play better. Unlike “League of Legends”, all the Heroes are free and you just need the knowledge to play them. If you have knowledge and say just created a whole-new ID, no matter how high-level profile of your opponent is, you just play the same.

This game is not just a game, this game has “Lore”. Lore is the history of each Heroes, how they came and how the universe of DOTA is created. Quite like lore of novels character like “Game of Thrones”. Even the neutral creeps of the map has significant Lore. And this game has huge bunch of Dialogues, extracted from Heroes. The history lovers and dialogue lovers would love this game without any doubt for the historical lore and dialogues.

Playing hours of any todays game will make you just expert in gameplay and you will become pro, but you will not gain any knowledge, but DOTA2 will give you knowledge beyond edges of the knowledge of this universe. The more you play not only the more you become pro but also you gain knowledge and knowledge is power. Many higher-level players of lower knowledge are defeated by lower level higher-knowledged player in DOTA 2.

That is why, DOTA 2 is the only game of this universe and all sorts of parallel universes.
