Your life is great as it is. You just don’t know it yet.
I am a workaholic kind of guy and I basically like to work with all kinds of people but I especially like to work with people who are the same or who are better than me. I always try to compete with myself and with others who are better than me. Nothing out of unusual — just some healthy bits of competition. But recently I have been listening to a lot of comments from people saying that I work a lot and that I should enjoy more of my life and that I am not living my life and blah blah blah!
I used to hear all of that but I recently realized that it is not really true. Well, not all of it.
The truth that I have come to realize is that this world needs workaholic people as much as they need adventure seekers, politicians, singers, cricketers, your average auto-rickshaw driver and the list can go on and on.
The truth that I came to realize is, I like to design and design doesn’t feel like work to me. Design was always a hobby for me and I converted it into a career after putting in a lot of effort. And I totally love my life. Which also means, I love sitting in my room on weekends reading Photoshop and Illustrator tutorials and taking photographs of random objects and then spending countless hours post processing it. But it doesn't mean I don’t travel and be with friends or family whenever I get time. It just means I like design more than doing senseless stuffs all the time — like every weekend. Senseless stuffs doesn’t relaxes my nerve. Design does.
When I look at it in a rational way, I love my life and wouldn't wanna exchange it with anyone. As soon as I realized this fact and slowly things started to fall in place. I actually stopped looking at what others are doing and what I am missing out. The killer fact that I realized was, the more I listened to negative comments about how I should lead my life, the more I became miserable, the more I hated myself.
But fortunately all of that has stopped. I think my life is great. If you think your life is miserable, stop thinking that and keep doing what you are doing unless you truly feel it is wrong and not because someone else preached you that. Your life is great too. You just don't know it yet.
