Candidly, even with the light tone, I struggled a bit to publish the article because I’m a fan of both Slack and Stewart Butterfield. And, I’m a nice guy and don’t try to write critical pieces.

The question I asked myself: Does this potentially help Slack? That is, does it surface an important issue, drive discussion amongst its users, etc. If not, don’t write it, because then it would just be ego. But if so, then go ahead and do it. So I went ahead and did it.

I also didn’t know the right answer. Wasn’t sure if others felt the same way, or if the feature was deliberate for some reason. Figured a public discourse would get that out there.
