Wait, What? The iPhone 8 Has A Lightning Port?

OK, I’m excited as anyone for the new iPhone. I’ll be up at 3am ET when they start taking orders (that’s an hour past my usual bed time).

But, one thing I’m amazed and somewhat appalled by: The all-new, it’s the future, iPhone still has the old (and proprietary) lightning port. Not USB-C.

Now, if Apple hadn’t just swapped to all USB-C ports on the Macbook and Macbook Pro, I’d almost understand. But this just feels wrong. If USB-C is the future didn’t Apple drag us into the future, like they usually do, when it comes to the port on the iPhone 8?

And, to add insult to injury, you can fast charge the iPhone 8 — but you have to use a USB-C charger, with a lightning cable.

Maybe it’s just me, but this irks me a bit.
