404
There used to be much less on a 404 page before. It used to be a generic page whose design depended on the server software used.
There are various beautifully designed 404 pages out there on the Internet nowadays.
I typed “https://medium.com/404" into the omnibox of Google Chrome (that’s what they call their “address bar”). It took me to a page that said “Sorry, but there’s nothing here.”
“Sorry, but there’s nothing here.”
But of course there was so much here. There was the text itself, in white, and an image of a beach — blurred out — in the background.
And then I thought of the world, and what I would be thinking about it when I was no more.
