My only counter-argument is that I’m trying to be the good guy who doesn’t keep it to himself.

Here goes: Mediumallowslargerphotostobeviewed. You probably knew this, but for Medium on the web, one can simply open the image in a new tab and edit the URL (which has the requested size in plaintext in there).

What this means is that if you’ve uploaded a high-res profile photo to Medium, people can see that version.

If you tell Medium about this, they’ll tell you this is a feature and not a bug. Easy solution: upload low-res profile photos to Medium.
