Many words and ideas gain favor in the public consciousness when they’re fresh and a useful counter to the status quo. Yet those very same words and ideas often lose their light when over- and misused over time.
This leads those who aren’t stuck in a mindless rut to reevaluate whether we can look at the same picture from a different angle, see it in a different light. Which in turn often leads to fresh priorities and new words. This is what progress looks like.
