He’s pissed that “American literature” supposedly obfuscates all the terrible things American people did to build this country, but it’s all out there, taught in schools, and made into TV shows and movies, and many in ways that paint us or even certain majority and historically controlling groups as bad. But he’s focusing on the negative and pushing the positive away the way he thinks these writers are doing the opposite. It’s no good, it won’t last, and this kind of aggression only makes things worse.
