Sense of Pronoia

I recently learned about pronoia, a concept that’s the direct opposite of paranoia. Instead of thinking everyone in the world is out to get you, you believe that everyone in the world is secretly conspiring to make you awesome.

Each obstacle you face — a hurtful statement, a difficult task, an unfortunate accident — is carefully constructed to make you a stronger, better, happier person in the long run. Tucked within each failure is the exact lesson you need to learn before taking on your next challenge.

Feels nice, huh?

Just briefly thinking about the world in this way cultivates an enormous sense of gratitude to the world. Everyone is on your side and it would just be terribly selfish of you to reject their gifts. So what can you do in the face of all of this? You’ll thank the world for all it’s giving you. And even though you’ll never be able to match it’s generosity, maybe if you do all the good you can you’ll be able to repay a small part of what this conspiracy is offering you.
