Today I am proud to share two major updates:

  1. Leading technology research firm Omdia has recognized IBM Cloud Pak® for Multicloud Management as a Leader in hybrid cloud management
  2. Announcing the general availability of Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management Version 2.1

Leader: Omdia Universe — Selecting a Hybrid and Multicloud Management Solution

I am excited to announce IBM Cloud Pak® for Multicloud Management (CP4MCM) is a leader in a 2020–21 Omdia Universe report! This report (formerly known as the Ovum Decision Matrix) is a foremost thought leader in recommending a multicloud/hybrid cloud management solution based on your unique requirements.

From Chief Analyst and Author, Roy Illsley on the report’s catalyst and purpose:

“The role and purpose of IT in organizations is undergoing significant change, driven by the need for businesses to become more agile. This report provides a side-by-side comparison and evaluation of leading hybrid and multicloud management solutions, with the findings delivered as the Omdia Universe.”

As an Omdia Universe leader, Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management supports the stated catalyst of helping businesses become more agile and is a strong option to consider in a side-by-side comparison amongst other submissions. CP4MCM scored highly and leads in several key evaluation categories including:

  • Product Strategy and Vision
  • Market Presence
  • Solution Innovation
  • Monitoring Resource Usage
  • Lifecycle Management
  • Backup and Resiliency

Here’s a short excerpt:

“IBM should appear on your short list because of its strength in lifecycle management… one of the most comprehensive solutions in terms of monitoring resource usage.” — Roy Illsley, Chief Analyst, Omdia Universe

I am proud of the contributions from our development, offering, and leadership teams for helping clients achieve their core objective of becoming more agile and producing better business outcomes in a hybrid multicloud environment.

Version 2.1 — The Latest Update

Integration with Red Hat® Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes

As mentioned in the video above, Red Hat® Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes (RHACM) provides the capabilities to address common challenges that administrators and site reliability engineers face as they work across a range of public and private cloud environments. We are very excited about this integration and the value it creates for our clients.

A few key points:

  • RHACM provides governance, risk, compliance and application lifecycle management for Kubernetes Clusters — This capability partners very well with CP4MCM to provide full hybrid management across containers and VMs (See video above)
  • Full lifecycle management of Red Hat Openshift® Clusters
  • Single sign on is supported throughout with no disruption to the user experience

Integration with IBM Multicloud Management Platform® (MCMP)

In CP4MCM Version 2.1 MCMP combines our best-in-class CP4MCM software with best-in-the-industry managed services provided by our partners in GTS. This partnership helps clients quickly leverage defined, proven, and persona-driven hybrid cloud management use cases. Currently MCMP is leveraging CP4MCM Infrastructure Management and Service Library, with plans to support more of the Cloud Pak in the future.

I would like to conclude with a short reminder of why this is important; We are a leader in what we aim to do best, help our clients manage a hybrid multicloud environment and deliver additional value to our end users. I hope everyone is continuing to stay safe and until next time — thank you.
