nerd word: al desko

After months of working through lunch, I’ve discovered there’s a word for this modern sadness that makes it more appetizing: al desko. It’s a play on al fresco, or more specifically, dining al fresco. Apparently popular in Britain and Australia, the cheeky phrase was added to the Oxford English Dictionary recently. Use it to make eating in front of your computer screen sound way more classy:

I didn’t blindly shove food into my gaping mouth while staring at a bright box in front of me — I dined al desko.
