What is Solar Energy?
The sun is a very hot star 93 million miles away. That is pretty far for a little creature like us but yet, the sun is the ultimate source of life on earth.
But how is the sun achieve this, exactly?
Secret recipe: Sun’s Radiation
Thanks to the innovation of the 20th century, we can now not only enjoy the sunlight as it shines but also produce other types of energy from it. We call this type of energy, Solar energy. Harvesting renewable energy such as solar energy is all about collecting and redistributing the natural energy around us to the right space at the right time. How do we do this?
Solar energy is collected in two major ways: solar thermal energy and photovoltaics.
Solar thermal energy
Solar thermal energy harvests the sun’s infrared radiation.
Photovoltaics
We collect other parts of the light spectrum, the visible light, to generate electricity.
Solar energy is great!

We move through this life and make these impacts. Some are small and some are big. Some are small that become big. Like a flicker of a photon that could power the city, we have the ability to change the world. The question becomes, which direction do we want to step into? We have been working hard, moving forward, not noticing the destruction that we left behind from using fossil fuel to power our lives. As a humble traveler, when I find awe in the world, I want to leave things as it was. I want to leave our earth as it was. And using less energy, using services that are produced from solar energy would be one way of achieving that.
Sun reaches every living thing equally. It values everything equally. Shouldn’t we be more like the sun? Would you be more like the sun?
