The other day I had the honor to be invited to an inauguration party in Mahungo. It was a very special day for Rosa, the owner of the newest ‘barraca’ (grocery store) of the village. Besides the great atmosphere, delicious food and loud songs and prayers, what impressed me the most was the fact that I felt like I was part of the ‘family’. I didn’t feel like a stranger or a foreigner. I had fun, I felt good, I belonged to that moment.
