How To Find Yourself
When it seems like all hope is lost, here’s what to do
Modern life can be overwhelming. Even when our schedules are light, our brains are busy. We are constantly distracted. Whether it’s work, a busy social calendar, or phone/social media notifications, we are always switched on. It’s no wonder we start to burn out. Our brains fry. I briefly touched on this in my last story “I Feel Like A Fraud”. The gist of it is that I haven’t been feeling myself lately. There’s too much going on and the buzzing in my head is just getting too much. When this happens, I have a tendency to fixate on what’s not working and what I want to change. Eventually I realise what I need to do.
Entertaining unhelpful thoughts is, as you’ve no doubt guessed, unhelpful.
When there’s too much going on, don’t add to the load.
Stop.
Breathe.
Reset.
Sometimes the simplest advice is the best.
You may be familiar with The Law of Attraction. The basic idea is that positive thoughts, feelings, and actions attract positive outcomes into your life, with negative thoughts, feelings, and actions resulting in negative outcomes. Tony Robbins says:
“Where focus goes, energy flows.”
