A Leader in the Push to Pass the Dirty Buildings Bill

Patrick Houston, NYCC. By Diara J. Townes.

Patrick Houston is the Climate and Inequality Campaigns Organizer with the non-profit organization New York Communities for Change.

As part of an assignment for the Advanced Reporting for Social Journalism class at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York, this audio slideshow captures Houston explaining the importance of lobbying and mobilizing the community to push City Council to pass Intro. 1253, also known as the Dirty Buildings bill, and what it could mean for the future.

The bill passed on April 18, 2019, thanks to the commendable efforts of leaders like Houston.
