*ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNERS- How does it work?*

*Introduction*

I wish I could say that we all can take care of ourselves and show up for success daily, but the reality is that most of us need some help. As a consultant and coach, I believe in the power and success of coaching as a tool for making progress.

Many people struggle with the definition of accountability versus responsibility. The difference is simple. Many people can be responsible for helping out on a task or initiative. But accountability belongs only to one person who will be judged on the completion of the project.

Truly accountable people are very hard to find. Accountability comes from within. It is not something you are given, you have to choose it to own it.

Webster's Dictionary says the definition of accountability is: *"the obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one's actions."*

*Who is an Accountability Partner?*
An accountability partner is someone who supports another person to keep a commitment or maintain progress on a desired goal. They will often be a trusted friend or acquaintance who will regularly ask an individual about their progress and how things are moving.

*Accountability Partnership?*

This is a process of helping someone stay on track while working toward achieving the desired goals. (Personal, Professional, etc)

Accountability is having someone who will be a sounding board, a guide and personal kicker to ones success.* But not all accountability works; you need to search out the right person and set the right standards to have success.

*What are the key to accountability?*

It is the decision to be responsible for your actions and your work within your team and company. *Accountability means you follow through and do what you say you are going to do. You don't make excuses or blame others*.

*Habits of Highly Accountable People*

Here are 8 of the many habits accountable people choose to make part of their everyday life.

1. They take responsibility.
2. They don’t make excuses.
3. They are on time.
4. They control their own fate.
5. They own their feelings.
6. They manage expectations.
7. They collaborate.
8. They don’t expect praise.
