What is onlythefax.io?
Simply onlythefax.io is the future of the fax machine. For the first time ever, we are making the fax machine connect to the Internet in a modern and sensible way.
All you have to do to experience the awe of this service is to send a fax of a URL you want to browse to our magical fax number (using an actual fax machine). Then, be amazed, as the WebKit rendered website is faxed right back to your fax machine at lightning speed (a few minutes).
Your fax browser is ready.
How we build it
Like most revolutionary ideas, simplicity is baked in. A few AWS lambdas were herded in the right direction, and plugged into Google’s vision API. Combined this with some gomix, and a unicorn based (i.e. Scotland) fax API, and you have our amazing service.
Why we built it
If you are a developer, you probably know that building things is fun. Having a user base of only a handful of people, isn't that great though. Some projects deserve to have a wider audience, and we think this is one of them. With your help, we will be in a better position to scale up, and ensure all users get a smooth fax browsing experience.
