I grew up in Rio. I’m not living there anymore, but I still live in Brazil, so I feel like telling you this: there’s no way in hell the Olympics money would’ve been spent in “more pressing areas”. Politicians would’ve robbed it whole and Rio would still be broke right now.

Rio is always broke. And politicians are always making millions out of it. The games are useless, but less useless than the state Governor riding his family on the helicopter to avoid traffic everyday.
