Never draw conclusions from the summer league. It’s like a dozen different games happening at the same time, with every set of players, coaches and teams with particular agendas that never include “trying to win the game”, wich is, as you know, the biggest agenda for NBA teams (even the 76ers players and coaches are trying to win games, in spite of the front office).
I’ve watched whole summer league games only when Derrick Rose x Michael Beasley was still an argument (well, it’s an argument again), just because I was an absolute basketball junkie. It helped me in nothing (well, I was amazed by Rose’s speed and dribbling, even if he did next to nothing). I guess only professional scouts and staff members who know what Ball and Tatum were told to do can say wether they performed well enough.
