You know how people do New Year’s resolutions to always write a certain number of words per day?
I can’t tell if they’re channeling Woody Allen who says that life is about turning up —paraphrased to mean ‘churning a blog post every day and having one up on those who don’t write at all’— or whether Hemingway inspired them to ‘write, even when you don’t feel like it.’
If Medium is about everyone sharing their stories and ideas it suddenly feels like a good home for the occasional thought that’s too long for Twitter.
I don’t even aim to write every day, and my bosses will probably agree that there’s better use of company time than a collective idea group hug, but on the other hand having a notepad for the few things left not covered by a NDA doesn’t seem like a bad idea. After all, the best way to understand new things may well be to talk or write about them.
Or it might just come in handy later, who knows. See how it goes.
