Why To Develop Mobile App For Your Business By 2015

Despite turmoil in world financial markets over the last year, the mobile industry continues to confound expectations with spectacular accelerating growth. The research indicates that by the end of 2015 about a million mobile phones will be sold compared to the number of personal computers. This shows that the smart phone market has plenty of opportunity and momentum. Mobile is commanding more of the organic search market today than ever before. With this explosive growth, mobile will surely be a top priority for companies across industries.

Marketers have a few options at their disposal when creating a mobile experience: Responsive, Dynamic, and Separate. Each offers a unique approach to the user experience from screen size, to varying types of content, to developing completely different entities for each device type.

Mobile industry is not showing any sign to slow down. An average app user spends 30 hours a month over 2 dozen apps, out of which 46% of app users paid for their apps. It is predicted that by 2017, over 268 billion downloads will generate $77 billion worth of revenue.

Few stats from last year:

57% of app users who downloaded apps recently, said they use these apps daily

51% said they use handful of apps once a week

68% of app downloaders report using their apps

31% use 6 or more apps on a weekly basis

24% of these downloaders use their apps for more than 30 minutes a day

According a recent research, it was seen that consumers are paying more and more for apps, instead of opting for the free version. According to the research:

46% of these have paid for the apps

52% of these consumers say that the highest they have paid for an app is $5

17% have paid more than $20 for an app

The people most likely to pay for the apps are adults aged 30 years and over, college students, adults with an income of $50,000 or more, and those living in urban cities.

The statistics, broken down by age group, is as follows:

18–24 year olds, users averaged around 28 apps per month, spending 37 hours and 6 minutes per month

Age group of 25–34 year old users averaged 29.5 apps per month, spending 35 hours and 40 minutes per month.

The research shows that as of July 2013, Google’s Android market had passed 50 billion app downloads, and featured over a million apps via their Google Play Store. Apple reached 75 billion app downloads, and 1.2 million apps in the iTunes store this year (2014). By 2017, over 268 billion downloads; amounting to $77 billion revenue is projected to be made.

The projection for app revenues is also pretty interesting:

The revenue for the apps is projected to be increased by current $11.4 billion, to $24.5 billion by 2016. That is 400% increase

One in three consumer brands will feature integrated payment in their mobile apps, by 2015

By 2017, 48% revenue will be from in-app purchases

By the year 2016:

The world’s population will be approximately 7.3 billion

10 billion will use mobile internet devices globally

There will be 1.4 devices per person on the planet

This basically means that he app market is growing at a lightning speed. More and more companies are offering their consumers unique app experiences, making revenue of in-app purchases, and growing with the mobile market like never before.

With majority of people owning mobile devices, and relying on apps for everyday needs and wants, it only makes sense for any business to join the mobile-app club.
