Darya Yegorina of @Cleverbooks presented this talk about AR in education at the Women of Silicon Roundabout conference.

We can no longer rely on knowing which jobs will emerge in the next 10 years, however we can prepare learners with skills that are applicable to a wide range of emerging jobs such as complex-problem solving and collaboration skills.

A lot of current tech is dying whilst new tech emerges, such as AR with the benefits of creatting an immersive and rich sensory experience, whilst enabling development of some of the key skills required for work life in 2020.

Simple triggers on printed materials such as specific pixels, QR codes, or any unique feature on the page can be utilised with a mobile phone app to access content types such as video, audio, 3d visualisation, animations — bringing further depth to the printed page and allowing for exploratory experiences through past, present or future.

Five per cent of teachers are currently using AR, more needs to be done to up-skill teachers and build their confidence to use this technology in the classroom.
