Searching for the right Color Scheme?

While designing a new prototype I was looking for some eye popping, but in a way also subtle colors which attracts the user and lets him fall in love with my new project.

Easy you might think — nope not for me.
I love colors, so it’s very hard for me to choose from the infinite varieties. It’s much easier to make a final decision, if some tool shows you the right mix you might need.

So, here are some websites helping you to choose the right color scheme.

Adobe Color CC

Simple to use color tool by one of the biggest players in the design world.
Adobe’s Color CC is very intuitive. Choose the right color from e.g. monochrome, complementary, shades …
Just create an image of your chosen colors and save it.

If you have an Adobe account that’s even better, log in and save your generated palettes for later, or share them with your team and colleagues.

Colour Code

Within this cursor based interface the “Free Build” option has a tiny marker which shows your previous chosen color — love this.

You can experience other color options like monochrome, analogic, complementary colors while using your cursor.
Just add from four up to ten colors to your Colour Code palette.

Download your palette as s.css, less, png or just send a permalink of the scheme to your colleagues or friends.

Colordot

Just like the previous site Colordot is also cursor based.
Seems like you could endlessly add colors to your palette. It’s even super easy to edit your single chosen colors.

The ColordotApp is also available on the App Store.

Palettr

Such a different approach to pick the right color for your next project. If your looking for a fast and unconventional way to create a new color palette Palettr might be the right choice.

Just generate a new palette by searching a theme, a season or a place.
Hint: mine was ocean ;)

Material UI

Screentshot Material UI

Material UI lets you choose from palettes such as Material Design Colors, Flat UI Colors, Fluent Design Colors, Social Colors … there is also a Color Picker showing you the HEX, RGB and HSB values of your selected color.

Additionally you can get just one out of many, many Material UI Icons to download or just implement the SVG Code into your website.

Color Hunt

This site is like Product Hunt just for colors.
Color Hunt is clean, super simple and definitely the platform to choose, if you’re looking for a time saving color selection tool for your upcoming project.

One palette consists of four default colors. Choose from New, Hot, Popular and Random color schemes or just create your own color palette.
Sadly by now there is no opportunity to choose colors by tags or tone spectrums.

LOL Colors

LOL Colors is a curated color palette and very utilitarian for the non-color experts ;)

Just like Color Hunt LOL Colors it’s super easy, clean and has four colors per palette. By now there are just 65 color schemes you can choose from, but hopefully this super sweet site will soon be extended with new color palette functions.

To sum it up …

Easy, simple, beautiful — awesome

My favourite color scheme platform to work fast and save time on my projects is Color Hunt. I really fell in love with it.
The provided palettes of colors are smart and simple compositions of various tones and can nearly be used designing everything.

Now, lets spread the love of colors!
