Your PHD / MBA Doesn’t Impress Me
Tim Denning

Furthermore I LOVED the process of getting mine. It was interesting and fun. And it got me a job overseas. Didn’t do it for the prestige — which is a good job ‘cos 20 years on, it doesn’t seem to command any respect or value. Which is a shame .. because a PhD in a good institution demonstrates 2 things — the capability to do independent, free thinking research, plus the organizaation ability & staying power to complete a complex project. Of course there are lots of other ways to demonstrate such work/life skills … but I’m sorry to read articles like yours —trying to claim that folks with PhDs are just fatuous big heads. A sad mistake.
