One of the most dreaded phone problems anyone can have is a black screen. Today, phonefix will share some methods on how to fix iPhone 12 black screen of death.

Force restart your iPhone 12

In idle mode or sleep mode, sometimes the phone system hangs and becomes unresponsive. This can eventually lead to associated symptoms such as a black screen. Performing a forced restart is a great way to wake up a sleeping screen that can be caused by a minor software glitch.

1. Briefly press and release the volume up button.

2. Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.

3. Finally, press and hold the side button for a few seconds until you see the Apple logo.

Connect iPhone 12 to a power outlet and force restart

Just connect it to a power outlet with your phone charger and set it up for at least 30 minutes. After that, perform a forced restart on the device immediately. Follow the steps provided in the first solution. If your phone still won’t turn on, try a different charger that’s compatible with your iPhone. This is for isolation if this is a charger related issue.

If the phone can be charged with a different charger and the screen is on, it may be drained and your current charger is faulty.

Perform Recovery Mode Recovery on iPhone 12

If the above procedure doesn’t light up your iPhone 12’s screen and it’s still black so far, an advanced solution may be required. Recovery mode recovery may be the answer as it is one of the solutions performed on iOS devices with major software issues. If this is the reason for your iPhone’s black screen of death, give it a try. You’ll need a Mac or Windows computer with the latest iTunes installed. Also make sure your computer is running on the latest operating system compatible with your iPhone. When ready, connect your device to your computer using a USB/Lightning cable. If possible, then allow iTunes to sync with your iPhone and backup files. Once the backup is safe.

Follow these steps to put your iPhone 12 into recovery mode and restore iOS in iTunes:

1. Briefly press and release the volume up button.

2. Quickly press and release the Volume Down button.

3. Then press and hold the Power/Side button when prompted to connect to the iTunes screen. Do not release the buttons when the Apple logo appears, as you will need to enter recovery mode.

4. Once in recovery mode, you will see the option to update or restore.

5. Select Restore if you want to reinstall and download iOS on your device without erasing data.

Just follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process. Disconnect your iPhone from your computer only after the entire restore process is complete or you are prompted to do so.

Restore your iPhone 12 in DFU mode

If all else fails, your last resort is Device Firmware Update (DFU) mode recovery. This might be your trump card to help you fix the black screen problem on your new iPhone 12. Please use this iRepair P10, it can enter DFU mode with one click, it allows your device to communicate with iTunes even when the bootloader is not synced or activated.

This means that if a major software issue is preventing your device’s screen from waking up, this process will bypass it and attempt to restore the software. Just make sure your phone hasn’t been dropped or put under physical stress, as this could cause the iPhone to completely brick.
