Mansukhbhai is a small-town man. His journey begins on 19 th October,1970. His family migrated to Morbi due to the breakdown of Machhu Dam. He failed in the 10th standard and dropped out of school after that as he belongs to a poor family. After that, he did a lot of jobs to support the family.

Mansukhbhai always wanted to start his own company and for that in 1988,he left his job and took a loan of Rs. 30,000 to start his own manufacturing industry. He developed a hand press machine on his own, having a capacity to produce 700 earthen pans per day. He sold one pan for 0.65 paisa and this continued for some time. After sometime, he start getting negative feedbacks. To solve the issue, he then experimented with different clays to check which was more heat resistant and durable. Finally, in 1990 he got his company registered.

“Objection is born of Invention”

In 2001,Masukhbhai suffered a huge loss because of the earthquake. He saw a photo in the newspaper feature on the earthquake with the caption

“Garibi ka fridge Tut Gaya”

(Fridge of the poor got broken)

This thing motivated him to create a fridge and later he named it “Mitticool” as it was made from clay and the word “miiti” simply means clay.

In 2002,he started his work on the fridge design and came in contact with GIAN(Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network) which assisted him for product development.GIAN did improvements in the fridge through National Institute of design.

Working :Mitticool works on the principle of evaporation. Water from the upper chamber drips down the side and evaporates, removing heat from the inside and leaving the chamber cool.

Benefits :

  • Provides a cheap and eco-friendly option.
  • Does not require any electricity and no recurring costs.
  • Preserves the original taste of fruits and vegetables.
  • Preserve the fruits and vegetables upto 5-6 days
  • It’s cost is Rs. 5999, which makes it quiet affordable.

No doubt that Mansukhbhai proves that he is a true scientist. He proves that your marks can never describe your knowledge. He failed in the 10th standard but never stop learning. Mitticool fridge is not the single thing he invented, he invented Tawas and many more. So, take an inspiration from this article and learn how to convert objection into Invention.
