Yves Klein is a Nouveau Realisme artists that mostly known for its signature monochrome blue color. Klein’s artistic aspect represents de-materiality, spirituality and transcendence. He is based on painstaking attempts to analyses the ways in which the artist’s self-processed adherence to an array of religious beliefs and philosophical systems shaped his art work and the constellations around it. Klein’s artistic practice — his “art” and “life” — was based on constantly trying. He reminded the audience as a “romantic” and “visionary” artist that art doesn’t necessarily have to be “rational” but it can be hermetic and irrational.

Nouveau Réalisme, an art movement aims to dismantle and de-materialize the unique and integral work of art and expand it in order of publicity, display, performance, participation, architecture, the cinematic, linguistic, and etc.

  • Why Monochrome Blue ?

Monochrome blue represents the immaterial, void and the elements of extra-dimensionality. What do art historians mean by immaterial or de-materiality ? — It was a reference to a fetishized aura emitted by the commodity object.
