IDRP — Reflection I

Ah, the maiden entry on my IDRP journey. My assumption is that the reader has a general idea of what my project is before proceeding with this post (so as to fathom the context of my writing). If not, you are welcome to view my project proposal which illustrates my project identification process and introduces the sead circle and its methodologies quite thoroughly.
The IDRP I semester for me has been a pivotal stage of growth for myself personally as an aspiring development practitioner and also for the sead circle’s incubation. The practical aspect of the course has significantly driven the process of identifying potential collaborators, key stakeholders, and establishing the project outcomes.
I was made aware that typically, in the past, IDRP placements were secured prior to project identification. My case, however, was unique because I was adamant about aligning my IDRP with the sead circle, a project of my own conception. This specificity made the partner selection process more challenging. However, once I locked down an industry partnership with The Cultural Development Network the journey has been positive and productive. Except for our first meeting, all of my work and communications with my industry supervisor has been conducted digitally. I was also sponsored to attend their Cultural Planning Framework workshop/training which contributed instrumentally in enriching my process and laying the foundations for the sead circle.
