5 Ways to Help You Save on Gas

Great tips! Thanks!

I have to partially disagree with fast acceleration though… There are a bunch of techniques classified as Hypermiling (http://www.wikihow.com/Hypermile). One of them says, that if you have to accelerate, you should do it quickly and then coast / maintain speed as much as possible. I’m guessing it’s not relating to 0–60 in a nanosecond, but if you need to overtake someone, or merge on the highway, do so quickly and safely!

Also, an important tip would be to maintain your tire pressure. If your tire pressure is out of whack, you are going to eat a lot more gas than you could!.

In regards to filling up with gas… Try to avoid filling up your car with gas when you see a fuel tanker in the gas station. When fuel tankers deliver gas to gas stations, a lot of settled debris will be well mixed with gas which will clog your fuel filter and thus reducing your mileage.

Lastly, there are bunch of apps out the for mobile phones that keep track of your driving (by using an OBDII dongle) and give you feedback. The app I use is called Dash (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dashlabs.dash.android). When I used it consistently, I gained almost 100 miles to my tank (going from 21mpg to 27mpg)
