When was the last time you spent time alone thinking of your life?

Everyday you are going back and forth to work or college and in your free time you spend it hanging out with your friends, watching Netflix or Playing games or you spend it with your family and kids. Whatever you are doing, you always keep yourself so busy and distracted that you forget to reflect on yourself.

We avoid being alone with ourselves because that’s when we hear our inner voices and most of them are not nice, at all.

our inner voices tend to be negative. but they are negative in a good way. They ask us the questions we try to avoid in our everyday life.

What am I doing in my life? What’s my purpose? Am I happy? How can I have peace? Am I living true to my own values? have I made the correct choices? What are my dreams? How and when can I achieve them?

As generic as it may sound, It’s very healthy to ask your self these questions every once in a while. Without them, You will probably go with the flow. You will do what everybody else is doing regardless what you really want in this life.

Solution? give yourself an opportunity and time to reflect on yourself, It may change the course of your entire life.

This Quote by Carl Sandburg says it all.

“A man must find time for himself. Time is what we spend our lives with. If we are not careful we find others spending it for us. . . . It is necessary now and then for a man to go away by himself and experience loneliness; to sit on a rock in the forest and to ask of himself, ‘Who am I, and where have I been, and where am I going?’ . . . If one is not careful, one allows diversions to take up one’s time — the stuff of life.”

Ok now that you want to do this. Let’s take some action steps!

1. Make sure your loved ones understand.

If you have a partner or a friend that you spend most of your time with, they have to know and understand your need of self time and their support is by letting you have your own time.

2. Find a place you love.

Where is the place you feel peaceful in? Your room? A Cafe? Maybe the Park? Wherever it is, make sure it helps you focus on your self talk.

3. Have Something to write your thoughts in

you may prefer a paper and a pen or you may prefer writing on your mobile phone’s notes or you have a whole case of colored pencils and white paper. the important thing is you pour all your thoughts into an external material that you can look at later on.

4. Repeat, Learn and grow

Keeping this habit will help you make better decisions , Plan your next move in life, keeping track of your goals , achieving them. It will help you learn more and more about yourself and help you grow into the person you’ve always wanted to be.

Having time for myself and writing my thoughts down have helped me so much in knowing what I really want and making the right decisions. It changed my perspective of life and I wouldn’t have been where I’m now If I haven’t done this and you can too.
