Toward the Next Jewish Rebellion:
Yotam Marom

Dear Yotam,

I shared this article because you have beautifully articulated a months long conversation between myself and my daughter, who is 24 and a political activist in the movement. I am a former Shomeret (a contemporary of Micah Sifry). My father was in Habonim in the 40’s and my parents were married in Israel in 1951, where they worked in a village for traumatized refugee children. I was born and raised in the States. It has been a long time since I considered myself a Zionist. And my father in his later years, fueled by old rage at my mother’s orthodox family and new outrage with Israeli policy, embraced in his political activities and lifelong commitment to the movement, a form of anti-semitism that he could not see as anti-semitism. It was very difficult to hear from his mouth and pen, and painful if I tried to name it. So, thank you so much for putting your voice and thoughts and dignity out here this way. I am so glad I happened upon it. Good work! Chazak V’ematz, Dina Stander (if by chance you want to respond, please use the email address, dina at deanbrook dot org)
