they are making an incredible publishing platform that has done for individual voices through words what YouTube did through video.
Is my Medium membership worth it?
John Metta

This. This is why I, too, opted for a membership and why I continue to write on Medium.

Saying “it’s YouTube for writers” of course has its own faults and problems, but it’s a good approximation. And I, too, love that Medium is giving amplification to these voices.

Everybody’s going nuts about video, but there are people who aren’t comfortable on camera. Or just don’t want to do video, plain and simple. Writers desperately needed a platform that can bring their voices, in a modern manner, to the audience. Wordpress or Ghost can do that, too, of course, but both require a level of control not everyone’s willing to bother with.
