Pets are a huge deal to humanity. This is true not only in our society, but also for centuries and centuries in the past: for example, the Egyptians had cats in high regard, attributing them magical and mystical powers, but they also had other pets like dogs (probably their favorite pets), monkeys and baboons (more on this here).

All these years after, we give pets a major importance and, for some people, they are an essential part of their lives. Pets receive the best treatment possible, as it should always happen: lots of affection, great food and, if needed be, the necessary medical treatments.

However, those treatments can sometimes be expensive - way more expensive than what most people can afford, up to an extent where they can be deemed as not worth it. So, how can owners protect themselves and, at the same time, protect their pets from these situations?

The key answer is pet insurance. It may sound strange, but this really exists. Just like any other insurance, it aims to help the subscribers to face hard situations involving high sums of money, covering most of (if not all) the necessary costs.

These insurances are helpful in more than just medical situations, as they have evolved to offer coverage from everything from routine care to advertising for a lost pet. Owners can pick from several levels and types of coverage, paying a monthly fee that is way more payable than those huge bills from the vet. These plans are very diverse, with prices ranging from $10 to $250 per month, or even more, meaning that there is a plan suiting every owner and every wallet.

Even though every pet insurance company has different standards, most pets can be enrolled into insurance from 6 to 8 weeks of age up until 6 years, with most companies offering lifetime protection. However, be advised that most insurances do not cover pre-existing conditions, which refer to illnesses, conditions or ailments that show any symptoms before the policy goes into effect.

With this in mind, if you are interested in obtaining an insurance from your pet and learn more about this, be sure to look at some pet insurance reviews and go for something that suits your financial situation and assures that your pet is well protected.
