Meet Spray, the App to Contact People Around You
The way people communicate with each other is not immutable and changes throughout time. A couple of decades ago, phone calls were the number one choice to contact anyone. Recently, SMS and MMS were kings, and now messaging apps are on the throne.
These apps are also evolving, bringing new ways of communication to smartphone users. A very good example of this is Spray, a recent messaging app for free on iOS and Android that works in a different manner than what people are used to.
That difference is seen in the way Spray is publicized:“the world’s first app that lets you message everyone nearby without knowing their names, emails, phone numbers or social media account”. It connects users that were previously unconnected, being also a tool to easily build a local community anywhere and at any time.
Despite this difference, Spray allows users to communicate in the usual way, with text, images and files, that can be sent to anyone on range.
With this app, users can connect with everyone nearby in a very rapid way, in order to freely share information, ask questions, offer support, get involved, or simply meet new people. Even though people have to create an account to use Spray (users are required to login with Facebook, Twitter or their phone number), this app gives privacy a high priority — users do their shares publicly but respond privately.
Even though Spray is a very new app, it managed to, with zero marketing, reach over 30,000 users and send 80,000 messages worldwide — Spray is already being used in several events, like festivals, providing the power of a local messenger.
In addition, despite reaching the market very recently, Spray has already caught the attention of important players in the tech world. For example, Mitch Lowe, co-founder of Netflix and Redbox, has very positive comments about the app:
A very innovative and twisted approach to connecting people nearby, that has not been implemented before. Thanks to Spray, the world will be better, safer and an easier place for everyone.
