THE TRAIN

Thru the crowd he has a glimpse of her. She is sitting alone reading a book, a novel maybe, he wonders. She has a dark wavy short hair and she is wearing a black jeans jacket with a yellow dress under it and some old red all-stars. She is focused but sometimes she stops the reading and looks out the windows of the train. Then she looks to the people around like she is expecting or looking for someone, he wonders. But soon she is right back at the book. Must be a good book.

Instantly he knows in his heart that he has to do something. He has to go to where she is sitting. But why? He never saw her before. But he knows. A delightful certainty.
He has no idea of what to say, only that he has to go to where she is sitting, and say something, anything.

“What is it? What is it called? Is there a scientific explanation to this that I am feeling? Is it what they call alignment of planets or stars? Luck? Destiny?” He asks himself.

Deep inside of him turns on a light, bright enough to enlighten that old dark and empty heart.

So he does that. He walks till her with the courage of a thousand men.
As he shyinly walks towards her their eyes lock in the middle of the way. He babbles a hello with a trembling voice and there is a nervous half smile on his face and cold sweat on his hands. But he does it anyway. He had to do it.

And there she was. Straight out of a dream. This unique creature. With a gentle smile in the corner of her lips, and the look of one who does not carry a single worry in the world.

She replies the hello back to him with a tender and gentle voice that echoes warmly inside his soul and instantly shuts down the crowd and a silence heard only by them takes over the surroundings. The best acoustic isolation there is.
Suddenly there is just the two of them and nothing else. Everything stops. And there it was. A big bang. The collision between two stars. The beginning and the end. The very essence of life. A momentum of blank in a chaotic universe. A real miracle. Some terrain for a seed of love to grow.
